Where do I start when telling you about Anna + Shaun’s Fiji wedding?
Obviously we were completely spoilt by the location (Denarau Island, Sheraton Fiji Resort) – Fiji is fierce! So big tick in the location + light checkbox. We’d only corresponded via email with them so we didn’t have a clue about what they looked like. “Let’s meet in the hotel lobby,” we’d arranged before we got to the hotel. What we didn’t know is that the lobby was literally the size of a football pitch and there were swarms of people milling around. So we did the obvious thing and eyeballed everyone in the room. “Do you think that’s her?” I’d whisper to James. “Not unless she’s retired. I don’t think she is…? “ They could have been anyone but it turns out we struck gold with A+S. Big time.
They thought we were both original Kiwis (and not the imported kind like us) and we thought they were originally from Singapore because that’s where they lived. But they turned out to be a Pom + an Aussie in disguise, getting married in Fiji. What an awesome mix! It felt like we’d all known each other for years, maybe because we all got on like a house on fire and I had to keep reminding myself that we had all only just met in Fiji. Or maybe it was because they welcomed us with open arms and treated us like part of their family – one big Aussie British family. An extra big checkbox tick there.
I could go on and on about how amazing the whole Fiji experience was and how easy it was to photograph their wedding because A+S were just glowing and everyone seemed so genuinely happy for these two cool cats. But you can see that yourselves from the photos. We left Fiji with a smile knowing we’ve made two new friends so next time we’re in Singapore, we’re heading their way!
