Linda + Jacques arranged their wedding from the UK so we only knew a few bits and pieces about everything before we met with them a few days before the wedding. One thing that we did know was that they both used wheelchairs. We’d never had a couple in the same situation before so we had a few team talks together about how we should approach it and discussed what (if any) differences there could be photographically. Aside from the fact that they wheeled instead of walked, not much else was different. In fact they were more adventurous than a lot of couples we’ve photographed!
Hearing about a tradition where the bride and groom greet their guests before the ceremony, they decided to adopt the idea and met with their guests beforehand, which was such a lovely touch. Many family and friends hadn’t seen the couple for years so it was lovely for everyone to have that extra time together. Linda + Jacques are the kind of people who you just get a warm feeling being around. It was the kind of wedding where everything just felt organic and unhurried.
Their wedding was held at the perfectly placed Okahu in Mission Bay. Just before the ceremony was due to start, a menacing rain cloud covered the city but thankfully disappeared after the ceremony so we could venture outside for some photos. As the evening turned to night, the whole place sparkled with the venue’s lights and the view of the cityscape. A perfect place to party the night away. Congratulations Linda + Jacques, it was an absolute pleasure being part of your day.
